Nick Daugherty is a great new writer/artist that I’m going to be working with very soon.  He’s working on a project called “How to Get a Record Deal in 365 Days” and has put some really cool videos together. Check ‘em out!

This article was just published in Music Connection magazine!

Artist management has evolved with the music business.

In today’s shrinking industry, management’s duties have expanded tremendously; and, in fact, several of the individuals profiled here are hyphenated — their expertise covers more than one area. You find producers (the power brokers in today’s music business) acting as managers, and management coming from the business sector.

Almost all of our sources are paid consultants as well because, after all, it is a business. The biggest change we’ve noticed is that artists are required to take on more responsibility. The days of a “free ride” are over.

Nonetheless, if you’re looking for someone to guide and direct your career, all seven of our sources are experienced and savvy enough to help you reach your goals. Read the rest of this entry »

Between The Lines :: Amy Kuney

“I want to thank the Academy for all their support”

Vocalist/lyricist Amy Kuney came to L.A. in 2004 like so many others: to follow her dream. With The Oscars buzz on overdrive right now, Kuney’s “Sold Out” from her 2006 6-song debut CD, “EP,” taps into both the highs and lows of aspiring actresses. Read the rest of this entry »

Pinball Marathon Wrap-up

An endurance marathon is such a unique experience…from my end, I tested the limits of how my body and mind would react to little and mostly no sleep for days…even weeks…on end and, yet doing something that I truly enjoyed and most importantly raising the consciousness level and funds for a worthwhile cause.

From the crew’s perspective, I suppose that most of them considered me to be a little crazy (OK, OK…a lot crazy!)…but, I’ve been involved in the music business for almost 40 years…what do you call that? They had to agree to support me, no matter what shape I was in…their job was to get me through it all. Some had it easier than others…some just came and fed me when I was hungry and marked my scores down and kept track of the time, while others held my head up as I used every last ounce of strength left inside me to flip the flipper one more time and kept my spirits up when they were scraping the bottom of the barrel. But WE did it! They rallied by my side and helped me do something in the world that nobody else had ever done…THREE TIMES! They are my heroes!

What I particularly loved about this event is that it created a sense of community between everyone involved… There are crew members who met each other for the first time back in ‘78 & ‘79 who are still friends today… I absolutely love it when that stuff happens! And to have some of those crew members back again in 2000, after 20 years, still believing in me and my dreams. I’m a lucky girl!

The bottom line is that I couldn’t have done it without the help of everyone involved… and that makes this even more special to me. And I get to bring attention to some wonderful charities who do great work… which gives me the purpose to successfully complete my mission.

My loving and supportive husband, Jerry, was so proud of my first two records… I’m sure he was smiling down from Heaven as I set my third pinball marathon world record in 2000… and I know he must have had a talk with God over this… I feel truly blessed to have enough good health to be able to this more than 20 years after the first couple of times. This was one heck of a 55th birthday party! Thank you Lord for giving me the strength… and thanks for keeping an eye out for my angel.

Perhaps I will give others the hope and belief in themselves they need to follow their hearts and make their dreams come true as well. I’m always available to pull some crew time…
